About Silver Tongue
Moving to Coimbatore was a significant change for me. I didn’t know anyone and was focused on being a homemaker. After the passing of my aunt and mother-in-law, and as my children grew up and became independent, I felt a void and wanted to engage in some part-time work, regardless of the profession.
During this time, my cousin Revati introduced me to an Australian franchise that taught English through drama. Although it seemed like a perfect fit, the long working hours made it unsustainable. However, this experience ignited a passion for teaching within me.
A new friend, Barati, then referred me to Silver Tongue, which had an opening for teaching communicative English at a nearby college. That marked the beginning of my journey with Silver Tongue, and it’s been almost a decade since I joined them.
The pioneers of Silver Tongue, Seetharam Sir and Ambika Seetharam Ma’am, are incredibly humble individuals. Seetharam Sir, a perfectionist, is passionate about English and languages. He is verbose, an athlete, and has a great sense of humor.
What I appreciate about Sir is his effort in preparing us for college sessions, which are always enjoyable and fun-filled. Inspired by him, I now try to incorporate humor into my sessions too.
Ambika Ma’am, on the other hand, is soft-spoken, humble, and polite. I’ve never seen her lose her composure. At Silver Tongue, employees are treated like family, often sharing what they have from home if a meeting gets delayed, for any special occasion, or just because it feels like the right thing to do. Silver Tongue truly feels like my second home. Over the years, I’ve learned to be dedicated in whatever I do, avoid shortcuts, do good, and stay humble.
A word of caution to prospective students: if you plan to take English lessons at Silver Tongue, be mindful of your pronunciation, as you may fall in love with the English language, given we have a perfectionist in our midst. As an employee, you’ll likely find it hard to leave your comfort zone, and upskilling knowledge is a daily practice at Silver Tongue.
In conclusion, “Knowledge is power.” I feel more confident, determined, and empowered than I was ten years ago. A big thanks to Silver Tongue and its pioneers for making me who I am today.
